Environmental Manager BU Belgium-Luxembourg
The Environmental Manager is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving the environmental management system across both project and business unit levels within the Belgium-Luxembourg Business Unit. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the environmental management system at both project and business unit level.
- Lead and coach a team of two Regional Environmental Coordinators.

- Guarantee the correct implementation of ISO 14001 and the CO₂ Performance Ladder management systems to maintain certifications.
- Roll out the BESIX Group environmental strategy within the Belgium-Luxembourg Business Unit.
- Ensure compliance with:
- The ISO 14001-certified environmental management system.
- The CO₂ Performance Ladder-certified system including:
- Setting and monitoring reduction targets.
- Managing data (collection input into CO₂ software analysis).
- Biannual reporting.
- Internal and external communication.
- Stakeholder engagement.
- Follow-up on BU/entity-specific reduction programs and action plans.
- Coordination of innovation and sector initiatives.
- Monitoring CO₂-awarded projects.
- Collaboration with the Group CO₂ PL Manager.
Supporting Activities
- Contribute to prequalification and tender processes when requested by the QHSE Tender Manager.
- Represent BESIX in external environmental initiatives (e.g. ADEB-VBA).
- Deliver environmental training in line with the QHSE training matrix.
- Drive continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (part of the Integrated Management System).
- Support the development of corporate environmental programs (waste energy carbon).
- Assist in data collection for sustainability reporting (e.g. Ecovadis CSRD CO₂ PL).
- Participate in the Corporate Internal Management System audit program.
Qualifications :
Profile & Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field.
- Certified Environmental Coordinator Level A.
- Additional degrees in technical or environmental disciplines are considered a strong asset.
- Minimum of 1015 years of experience in a similar role preferably within a complex multi-project environment.
- Advanced knowledge of the CO₂ Performance Ladder is a significant advantage.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams across diverse operational and cultural contexts.
- Fluent in English and Dutch; proficiency in French is a strong plus
