Job Summary
Position Summary:
To provide event planning and audio-visual services to student organizations departments and public constituents. Provides primary responsibility for customer service and administrative support including role as resident expert on audiovisual equipment. Provides primary oversight of the HawkeyEsports Arcade. Provides support as needed for security emergency response and cleaning of the facility. Position has administrative supervisory responsibility for hourly part-time student staff. Act as back up to facility coordinators and IMU Events Services staff members to meet business needs. Responsible for supporting and implementing the Iowa GROW program with student employees as a part of our commitment to student success.
Specific Job Duties & Tasks:
Meet with clients and assist with event planning.
Ensure all meeting and event activity needs are met with a primary focus on audiovisual equipment.
Oversee audiovisual equipment purchases supply inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Make recommendations to Associate Director on potential new acquisitions.
Perform administrative activities such as preparation of specific and periodic reports payroll for assigned staff.
Recommend improvements in service methods equipment performance use of equipment and staff scheduling to increase efficiency and safety of departmental staff.
Assist with long range planning of department rate structure equipment pricing and services provided.
Interview select hire train evaluate and review the performance of assigned staff. Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as promotions transfers discharges and disciplinary measures.
Participate in the development of hourly student staff through engagement in the Iowa GROW program.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work experience (typically 1-3 years) with event management processes and activities; ability to plan organize and execute events and to coordinate resources before during and after an event
Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
Ability to calmly assess and resolve issues handle customer inquiries resolve complaints and make constructive and informed decisions.
Work experience using standard office computer applications i.e. email and MSOffice
Extensive experience setting up programming and operating analogue and digital sound boards and lighting consoles for large events
Basic knowledge and ability to apply organizations performance management system practices and tools to developing and improving individual team and organizational performance
Desired Qualifications:
Experience using event management software (such as Event Management Systems Mazevo) Microsoft Visio Extron control systems
Basic experience with audio and lighting installations
Knowledge of and ability to use tools and techniques to prepare for mitigate respond to and recover from an emergency
Familiarity with gaming software and hardware.
