:59 PMThe CBC News network social and audience team is seeking a YouTube Producer to join our award-winning video production and distribution team. The successful candidate will focus on leading and co-ordinating all live and on-demand news content on our CBC News YouTube channel.
You must be an expert in short- and long-form video storytelling and able to experiment with new video formats to reach younger and diverse audiences. You are an editorial news leader with sharp writing skills for titles and descriptions and have an eye for strong thumbnails. You know how to package and sell a story from episode uploads to original explainers to news documentaries.
You are also an expert in YouTube metrics and make data-driven decisions to implement best practices for growth. You can analyze click-through-rate discoverability and watchtime to guide editorial decisions. You are a natural leader who will lead training sessions and help craft best practice materials as a standard for video across the News division. You can juggle daily tasks and long-term projects to deliver under tight deadlines.
Youre on top of daily news current affairs and trending stories and familiar with CBC News programming including CBC News Network Marketplace and the fifth estate.
Your work is governed by and adheres to CBC journalistic and programming policies standards and practices.

Based in Toronto and reporting to the executive producer of social and audience development this permanent full-time position is scheduled Monday to Friday and is telework eligible.
Job responsibilities
Co-ordinate workflows and assign live and on-demand stories for CBC News YouTube channel
Oversee packaging of videos with optimized titles descriptions tagging and thumbnail design.
Manage all livestream coverage plans on the CBC News YouTube channel with both breaking news and special programming. Provide regular analytics on performance and establish best practices and reports.
Liaise with News Network shows and regions to best position our content.
Identify platform trends and experiment with new vertical video storytelling formats.
Work with CBC News investigative shows Marketplace and The Fifth Estate to optimize package and distribute their content on YouTube.
Train coach and provide feedback to collaborators across the News division and to new staff.
Co-manage platform best-practice meetings for CBC English services.
Relevant qualifications
5 to 7 years journalism experience including three or more years in social or video production.
Track record of interpreting analytics on YouTube for best practices.
Excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
Excellent packaging and publishing skills for YouTube.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and co-operatively with team members and supervisors in high-pressure situations.
Experience in leading training sessions or workshops.
Knowledge of CBC editorial policies including mandates and CBCs Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Ability to work independently and source material through archives Media Central units/bureaus audio teams photo desk and more.
Ability to work flexible hours as required including evenings and weekend shifts. Ability to work within tight timelines often in unexpected overtime situations.

University degree or equivalent experience.
