Salary/Position Classification
- $14.00 hourly Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
- 10 hours per week
- 100% Remote Work Availability: No
- Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No
Purpose of Position
This is a part-time non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the construction assembly and installation of theatrical sets for department productions
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely under supervision
- Help with scenic painting surface preparation and finishing tasks
- Support the load-in and strike of productions including moving scenery and organizing materials
- Maintain a clean and organized shop including sweeping sorting lumber and returning tools
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment
- Collaborate with technical staff designers and fellow students to complete projects on schedule
- Assist with repairs and modifications to existing scenery as needed
- Participate in training sessions to learn new skills and improve shop efficiency
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work collaboratively with shop staff
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn hand and power tool operation (e.g. drills saws sanders)
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 4050 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending standing or climbing ladders
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following shop safety protocols
- Punctuality reliability and strong attention to detail
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
