Year 1 Teacher to join a supportive and well-resourced KS1 team
The appointed Year 1 Teacher will work with experienced teaching assistants and phase leaders to design engaging lessons run small-group interventions and monitor pupil progress. We welcome applications from adaptable Year 1 Teacher practitioners who thrive on building positive relationships with pupils and parents. The post will commence January 2026 with induction activities in the weeks leading to January 2026 to ensure a smooth start for the new Year 1 Teacher.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Year 1 lessons that build conceptual understanding and fluency.
- Lead phonics sessions and early reading activities adapting provision to meet individual needs.
- Use assessment effectively to set targets run timely interventions and track progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues to moderate standards and develop cohesive medium-term plans.
- Maintain clear homeschool communication to support pupils development.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent and recent classroom experience teaching young children.
- Strong subject knowledge in early reading phonics and number with evidence of raising attainment.
- Excellent classroom management organisational skills and a reflective approach to practice.
- Positive team player with a commitment to the schools values and to working in Northamptonshire.
- Available to start in January 2026 and ready to contribute to school life across Northamptonshire.
