Job Summary

Job Summary:

This is primarily an administrative Medical Assistant position in an outpatient primary care clinic serving elderly patients. The role requires strong administrative skills excellent communication for coordinating with facilities and physicians and the ability to perform standard Medical Assistant duties within the scope of practice. The position focuses on value-based care and minimizing hospital admissions for complex patients.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate patient care with outside facilities and physicians.
- Perform administrative tasks related to patient care.
- Assist patients in their routine activities of daily living.
- Perform range of motion.
- Ambulates patient.
- Positions patient and provides skin care.
- Distributes linen and changes bed as needed.
- Assist with feeding and meal delivery.
- Assist with routine hygiene care including toileting and incontinent care as well as appropriate oral and personal hygiene.
- Collect patient data and specimens.
- Obtain and record health weights vital signs including pulse oximetry and pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicate patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professional.
- Perform incentive spirometry.
- Transports patient. Preps for diagnostic tests.
- Assist rehab therapists (PM & R).
- Perform pulse oximetry/oxygen set up in oxygen therapy.
- Prepare room (supplies). Provides post mortem care.
- Prepare for admission and discharge.
- Assist nurse in emergency situations.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Perform suction (oral naso pharynx).
- Perform blood sugar finger sticks.
- Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Perform EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Perform selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinate equipment/supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Perform any other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- WA MA-C License
- Minimum 6 months of Medical Assistant experience (with strong administrative experience)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- EPIC charting experience
Special Considerations:

- Local candidates only (within 50 miles of the facility)
- Temp-to-perm position
Scheduling:
- 5x8hr shifts Monday-Friday
