Job DescriptionPurpose of the job: Support a team of engineers and designers with the design development and optimisation of all mechanical tasks required within the organization.
Required outputs: Functional
Design / re-engineer existing plant equipment and test fixtures to enhance their performance improve reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Thoroughly and effectively troubleshoot problems and implement solutions of a mechanical nature.
Select components materials finishes and shop processes necessary to meet the design requirements.
Conduct research that tests and analyses the feasibility design operation and performance of equipment components and systems.
Work as part of an integrated team with operations production and engineering to ensure ease of manufacture and a quality output.
Selection and qualification of the suppliers related to the mechanical function.
Detailed draughting and associated documents
Qualifications & Experience National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years mechanical design experience.
Proven ability to take a design from the concept phase to the final product.
Understanding of industrial design and its processes.
Experience with SolidWorks or other similar computer-aided tools.
Understanding and implementation of drawing standards.
Experience working with small to medium parts and assemblies (especially small tolerance components).
Understanding of jig design for mass manufacturing.
Designing for harsh environments.

- Strong attention to detail organization and time management skills
- Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills.
- The ability to organize prioritize and report on multiple projects with shifting priorities.
