This position can be home-based.

This is a full-time benefits-eligible grant-funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on March 1 2027 with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

The Social Impact Fund works across the social drivers of health focusing on impact in three core areas: healthcare access and quality food security and economic empowerment. The Principal/Senior Principal of Social Impact Funds will play a critical leadership role within the Social Impact Funds mission-driven investment strategy working at the intersection of capital deployment and measurable health outcomes.

This position leads origination structuring execution and oversight of investments (equity debt grants hybrid) in organizations focused on the social drivers of health. This includes prospecting and conducting due diligence on new investments as well as evaluating performance/outcomes. Additionally it involves onboarding facilitating and managing partners as well as ensuring compliance with Association grant or investment requirements. The Principal/Senior Principal will collaborate across internal teams and with external partners (institutional investors foundations intermediaries social enterprises) to ensure the Associations Social Impact Funds deliver both mission-aligned and financially sustainable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and originate high-quality investment opportunities that align with both financial return and measurable health impact.
  • Lead rigorous due diligence and investment structuring: financial modelling impact modelling risk assessment term sheet negotiation legal documentation and closing. Present potential Investments for approval by Investment Committee.
  • Manage and monitor an investment portfolio: track performance (financial and impact) identify and mitigate risks ensure governance compliance and reporting.
  • Act as a board member or board observer for investee entities as needed; support portfolio companies/organizations with strategic guidance value creation and impact measurement.
  • Engage and build relationships with key stakeholders: Association leadership funders co-investors philanthropic capital government partners social enterprises and mission-driven entrepreneurs.
  • Collaborate with the Associations strategy policy measurement & evaluation teams to refine impact measurement frameworks ensure data integrity and ensure that investment outcomes are aligned with long-term health outcomes and goals.
  • Represent the Association externally at industry conferences panels and working groups; build the brand of Social Impact Funds in the broader impact investing ecosystem.
  • Contribute to fundraising and capital deployment strategy: support preparation of investor materials participate in capital raising efforts and actively manage fund flows and deployment pace.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) plus years of professional experience in impact investing private equity venture capital debt finance structured investments or a hybrid financial/mission-driven capital role.
  • Demonstrated success in sourcing executing and managing investments (ideally in the health social sector or mission-driven space).
  • Strong financial modelling and investment analysis skills; ability to assess business models rate of return risk/return trade-offs and prepare compelling investment memos.
  • Experience with impact measurement and management frameworks: ability to integrate impact alongside financial performance in decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to present to senior leadership boards investment committees and external partners.
  • Strong relational skills and ability to build partnerships across sectors (non-profit government private capital) and geographies.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% local and overnight stay. The amount of travel may differ based on the location of the Principal/Senior Principal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA MPH MPA or similar).
  • Familiarity with philanthropic and mission-driven capital vehicles (blended finance catalytic capital pay-for-success social bonds).
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish.
