Job Title: Bilingual Cashier Scrap Metal Yard
Location: 77041 Houston TX
Pay Rate: $15/hour overtime
Schedule: Monday Saturday 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (overtime available)
Overview:
We are seeking a reliable detail-oriented Bilingual Cashier to join our team at a busy scrap metal yard. This role is responsible for handling customer transactions issuing weight tickets processing payments and providing excellent service in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills cash-handling experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet customers vendors and drivers professionally and courteously.
Accurately enter load information into the system and generate weight tickets.
Handle cash card and check payments with accuracy and integrity.
Verify identification account information and material classifications as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized cashier station ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly.
Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish to assist customers and internal team members.
Coordinate with scale operators yard personnel and management to ensure smooth workflow.
Follow all company policies safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Answer phones respond to inquiries and provide general customer support.
Qualifications:
Bilingual (English & Spanish) required.
Previous experience as a cashier customer service representative scale clerk or similar role preferred.
Strong attention to detail with excellent data-entry accuracy.
Comfortable working in a scrap yard or industrial environment.
Ability to multitask stay organized and problem-solve under pressure.
Basic computer skills (POS systems data entry email).
Reliable punctual and committed to strong customer service.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Ability to work indoors with exposure to outdoor industrial yard conditions.
Must be able to sit stand and walk for extended periods.
Comfortable interacting with customers who may be handling scrap materials.
