Growing Waukesha construction company is looking to hire an Estimator to be responsible for accurately estimating and preparing competitive bids for miscellaneous metals and structural steel scopes of work. This includes detailed plan/spec takeoffs pricing value engineering and collaboration with project management and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Review project plans specifications and related documents for Division 5 scope
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs (structural steel stairs railings embeds lintels supports etc.)
Solicit scope and level quotes from fabricators detailers and suppliers
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and proposals including labor material equipment and subcontractor costs
Identify project risks opportunities and value engineering alternatives
Maintain estimating database with updated pricing and productivity rates
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required
Collaborate with project managers field foremen engineers and clients
Track and follow up on submitted bids and maintain bid logs
Requirements
3 years of estimating experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals
Proficiency with Bluebeam Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g. Bid Wizard Procore or similar)
Solid understanding of construction means methods and labor productivity
Strong math analytical and technical skills
Familiarity with union labor environments and wage structures (a plus)
Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
