The Neurobiology of Depression & Aging is currently looking for a full-time contract (1 year) Research Analyst to assist in an exciting study investigating cognitive and imaging biomarkers of predicting brain aging and clinical outcomes in addiction for the Cognitive Dysfunction in the Addictions (CDiA) Study. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruitment of research subjects; scheduling and coordinating intake interviews; following and providing participants with instructions regarding magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional MRI; administering cognitive tasks (i.e. fMRI and computerized cognitive tasks); administering breathalyzer and urine drug tests; collecting and transporting biospecimens (saliva or blood); conducting semi-structured interviews and rating scales including (but not limited to) HAM-D PHQ-9 GAD-7 HAM-A Y-BOCS; data entry for clinical research; and providing general study administrative support. The successful candidate will work and interact with a large team of scientists clinicians post-doctoral fellows students managers Research Coordinators and Research Analysts. Data maintenance confidential storage and distribution are also vital components of the position. The candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position has regular working hours from 8:30-9:00am to 4:30-5:00pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate study participant and scanner schedules. This position is located at 250 College Street and travel to other sites both internal and external to CAMH is involved.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor degree in psychology or a similar mental health-related discipline combined with one (1) year of relevant experience. Experience with health services research preferably in the areas of mental health or addictions is preferred. Proven ability to effectively explain research studies including ethical issues and issues of confidentiality are necessary. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work effectively and strategically with a variety of programs and in a dynamic clinical/research team environment are essential. Demonstrated knowledge of PC software skills including Microsoft Office (including Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook and Access) data entry and statistical software (i.e. SPSS R) and the ability to learn new programs as necessary are required. Experience with a culturally diverse range of mental health clients and working in mental health clinics particularly chronic care and rehabilitation is a strong asset. Previous experience with imaging and research participant recruitment is also a strong asset. Candidate will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working as well as collaboration and teamwork. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
