Position Summary
Why Its a great opportunity:In this customer and utility company facing Engineering Technician 2 position you will be supporting the team by processing right-of-way permits charging fees for the permits and ensuring monthly billing is complete. You will use industry software such as GIS and Bluebeam while also maintaining date on Excel and Adobe. Knowledge of permitting and civil engineering software will ensure projects in Pierce County are done correctly and with accountability.

How to be successful in the role:Your success will come from providing excellent customer service and interdepartmental partnerships. Your knowledge of construction permitting processes ability to explain technical data to all and effective communication with local utilities will ensure your success.
Your future in this role:In this role you will initially be in the office but over time will follow the rest of the team by being in office one day a week. You will have access to professional development through robust online learning and other training opportunities throughout your career to ensure your success. This position has multiple career growth and promotional opportunities in Pierce County to build on a great career while directly impacting the communities in Pierce County.
Core daily responsibilities:
- Develops updates and maintains paper and computerized files records and databases; retrieves reports drawings and plans.
- Utilizes computer terminal to input and retrieve information; compiles data to produce useful reports.
- Provides routine permit and franchise information and explains routine policies and procedures to the public in person on the telephone and in writing.
- Compiles data and computes quantity and cost estimates.
- Occasionally updates GIS database

Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Two or more years of progressively responsible technical engineering experience in one or more areas.
- Additional technical training or education may substitute equally for the experience.
- A valid drivers license is required.
- A resume and cover letter are required for this position.
