The Prince Georges County Parks and Recreation Youth and Countywide Sports Division (YCSD) develops organizes and supports recreational sports programming for youth and adults across the county. Our programs aim to foster skill development teamwork community engagement and a lifelong love for sports.
The Permitting and Field Operations (PFO) unit of YCSD is hiring a Manager on Duty (MOD) who will assist with tournaments and sporting events at various schools and fields throughout the county. These events include but are not limited to soccer flag football basketball baseball softball field hockey and lacrosse for all ages. The MODoversees the active game sites and seasonal staff of their assigned region.

Management and Supervision
- Will be assigned to a particular region of the county (North Central or South) and responsible for fields and facilities in that region.
- Supervise monitor and schedule seasonal staff to be assigned to various sites within the region.
- Ensure that staff complete the following duties:
- Open inspect and prepare game sites and on-site restrooms before each game day
- Maintain friendly and positive relationships with players coaches site staff permit holders park/facility staff concession vendors parents and spectators.
- Restore the game site to its original condition at the end of every game day including trash removal and restroom cleaning.
- Keep storage areas neat and orderly with equipment and supplies properly stored.
- Record and report any violations of site rules such as smoking use of alcohol and disorderly conduct.
Administration
- Identify and report any sanitation or waste concerns at the site.
- Verify the game/event schedule ensuring that the appropriate teams are using the site.
- Submit any maintenance requests to the Permitting & Field Operations Office (PFO) and the schools building supervisor.
- Collaborate with other PFO staff to schedule practices games and events. This includes coordinating with school staff or parks staff as needed.
- Maintain a variety of administrative records such as supply and equipment inventory timecards permits and park maintenance.
- Prepare and submit administrative reports.
Customer Service
- Monitor events/games and provide assistance and customer service to patrons.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Candidates must have a valid Class C or D drivers license; a minimum of two years of driving experience; and the ability to attain the Commissions defensive driving certification.
- Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments sometimes in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand sit or move for extended periods.
- Light lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required for setting up displays moving equipment or assisting with gym operations.
Preferred
- Community CPR and First Aid certifications are desirable.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong writing skills.
- Ability to work with and effectively supervise a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Supplemental Information
May be subject to medical drug and alcohol testing.
Work hours
- The MOD will work a variety of shifts which may include evenings and weekends depending on program schedules and events.
Working Conditions/Environment
- Indoors and outdoors sometimes during varying weather conditions.
