Little bit about the role

The Pride in Place Program Coordinator will oversee the operations of the Pride in Place program providing direct line management to the LGBTQIA Service Navigator and IAP Worker employed by VincentCare. Reporting to the Pride in Place Governance Committee the Program Coordinator will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with LGBTQIA people utilising the Pride in Place program with a particular emphasis on supporting people who present with multiple and complex support needs. They are also responsible for directing and managing a coordinated response from Pride in Place consortium partners ensuring that service delivery is aligned to best practice frameworks and adheres to the Pride in Place program guidelines.

The Pride in Place Program Coordinator will work in consultation with the Pride in Place Principal Practitioner (employed by Drummond Street Services Queerspace) to:

  • Chair and oversee the Pride in Place Operations Committee Local Catchment Practitioner Group and other program governance mechanisms.
  • Deliver sector capacity building activities that seek to improve LGBTQIA inclusive practice across allied community services and Homelessness Access Points in the programs catchment areas with a view to improve access pathways and outcomes for LGBTQIA people.
  • Provide crisis support and case management for LGBTQIA clients with multiple and complex support needs using a trauma-informed person-centredand strengths-based approach.
  • Lead the Pride in Place team to deliver safe inclusive and sustainable support by fostering a strengths-based culture ensuring integrated and client-directed service pathways addressing service barriers building positive client relationships and providing consistent staff supervision mentoring and team leadership.

KeySelection Criteria

  • Experience managing operations in homelessness LGBTQIA or community services.
  • Strong knowledge of the homelessness sector and service systems.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed inclusive recovery-focused and harm minimisation practices.
  • Familiarity with government policy funding and compliance.
  • Experience with peer support and capacity-building approaches for LGBTQIA people with complex needs.
  • Ability to engage and maintain effective relationships with LGBTQIA people experiencing homelessness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and inclusive practice.
  • Experience collaborating with external organisations at a governance or partnership level.
  • Relevant vocational or tertiary qualification or equivalent experience (required).
  • Additional qualifications in a related area (preferred).
  • Full Victorian Drivers Licence.
