JOB SUMMARY

The occupation medicine APP will be responsible for evaluating and treating work-related injuries and illnesses (acute and chronic) performing pre-employment physicals and fitness-for-duty exams and developing and implementing workplace health and safety programs.

JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Graduate from accredited school of nursing and successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program

Certification & Licensures:

- Current license as a Registered Nurse and an Advanced Practice Nurse by the State of Missouri

- BLS Certification

- DOT Certification or ability to obtain

Experience:

- Three years experience as an advanced practice provider. Occupational Medicine experience preferred.

- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe working environment

- Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients physicians staff and the public

- Ability to maintain quality control standards and maintain calm and effective reactions during emergency situations

- Ability to communicate clearly as well as understanding and responding to detailed oral and written instructions

- Ability to learn and efficiency utilize diagnostic equipment electronic systems for ordering medical records and other common computer programs

Clinical Care Overview & Duties

Evaluate and treat work-related injuries and illnesses (acute and chronic)

Provide first aid and emergency care for workplace incidents

Conduct follow-up visits for injured employees

Manage return-to-work plans

Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate

Health Assessments

Perform pre-employment physicals and fit

ness-for-duty exams

Conduct DOT physicals (if certified)

Complete periodic occupational health screenings (e.g. hypertension diabetes)

Monitor employees returning to work after illness or injury Preventive & Wellness Programs

Develop and implement workplace health and safety programs

Coordinate immunization clinics (flu shots hepatitis vaccines)

Lead health promotion activities (nutrition fitness mental health)

Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA and occupational health regulations

Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records

Assist with workers compensation case management

Liaise with employers insurers and safety officers Collaboration & Advisory Advise management on health and safety policies

Work with multidisciplinary teams (physicians safety specialists HR)

Perform environmental health checks and recommend improvement
