Job Summary
Are you a reflective play-focused Reception Teacher who loves shaping the very earliest school experiences We are appointing a Reception Teacher for a caring primary school in Watford with the role starting January 2026.
The Reception Teacher will lead an inclusive EYFS provision designing rich indoor and outdoor learning environments implementing observation-led planning and tracking childrens progress against the Early Learning Goals. The successful Reception Teacher will work closely with parents the EYFS lead and support staff to secure strong social emotional and academic development.
This Reception Teacher post requires a practitioner skilled in communication and language development early number sense and effective formative assessment. The school in Watford offers excellent EYFS resources and a supportive culture; the Reception Teacher will join the staff during induction sessions before January 2026 to ensure continuity for the children from day one.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a stimulating EYFS curriculum that promotes language play and exploration.
- Maintain learning journeys complete formative assessments and use observations to shape next steps.
- Lead transition arrangements into Year 1 and liaise with families to support each childs needs.
- Work with support staff to ensure high-quality provision throughout the school day.
- Contribute to whole-school approaches to behaviour safeguarding and pastoral care.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with demonstrable Reception/EYFS experience.
- Strong knowledge of Early Learning Goals observation techniques and assessment.
- Empathetic organised and committed to early childhood development.
- Available to start January 2026 and to be based in Watford.
