POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Operator at BDL of Florida operates machinery such as excavators loaders dozers and graders to complete site development and underground utility projects safely and efficiently. The Operator is responsible for maintaining production schedules ensuring equipment care and working closely with field leadership to deliver quality results on every job.

Paid travel is required and reliable transportation to job sites is mandatory.

OBJECTIVES

  • Operate excavators dozers loaders and other heavy equipment for grading trenching and backfilling.
  • Perform pre-operation inspections and basic maintenance of assigned machinery.
  • Ensure work is performed according to plans grades and safety regulations.
  • Support crew coordination with foremen and project managers.
  • Maintain safe and efficient job site operations.
  • Identify and report mechanical or safety issues immediately.
  • Travel to multiple job sites across Florida as required.
  • Mentor junior team members and assist with labor tasks as needed.
  • Complete daily logs inspection sheets and timesheets accurately.
  • Represent BDL of Florida with professionalism and reliability on every project.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 12 years of heavy equipment operation or construction experience required
  • OSHA-10 Certification required; OSHA-30 preferred
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Frequent climbing on/off equipment bending and reaching
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work in noisy dusty and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
  • Visual and auditory ability to detect equipment issues and maintain safe operation
Ability to work 810 hour days occasionally longer during peak project periods
