Job Summary

We are currently seeking:

A Domestic Violence Case Manager to join our team. This is a full-time position for the purpose of working in partnership with the San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) officers and detectives assisting crime victims of family violence and coordinating with community partners. The Domestic Violence Case Manager is responsible for day-to-day intervention services with the victim survivor and family members who have experienced or witnessed domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Case Manager reinforces care for the adult victim child victim if any and other potential witnesses experiencing secondary victimization/trauma. The Domestic Violence Case Manager is part of the Investigative Support Team that conducts assessments makes referrals gathers evidence for the detectives and collaborates with partners and volunteer interns to fulfill the assignment.


Your responsibilities will include:


1. Crisis intervention & Case Management:

  • Responding On-Scene if necessary and authorized
  • Work with victims of domestic violence sexual assault stalking harassment human trafficking and abuse
  • Develop a victim service plan
  • Notification & explanation of crime victims rights and the criminal justice process
  • Crisis Response/Support/Intervention
  • Assistance with Crime Victim Compensation application process
  • Safety Planning escape planning and Protective Order Assistance
  • Community Resource Referrals
  • Court/Legal/Medical Accompaniment in qualifying cases
  • Assistance with I 918 forms for U-Visa Applications.
  • Assistance with Address Confidentiality Program Applications (Texas Attorney Generals Office)

2. Investigation:

  • Conduct Danger Assessments
  • Conduct Strangulation/Suffocation Interviews
  • Gather medical reports
  • Be present for Detective interviews and/or assists with victim interviews
  • Gather other relevant evidence when applicable

3. Community Outreach:

  • Attend community group meetings
  • Educate the community regarding the dynamics of family violence
  • Innovatively targets groups where potential victims may be

4. Administrative:

  • Set up victim file with basic information statistical data and service agreements
  • Document victim interaction notes in file
  • Compile Statistics on a monthly basis
  • Adhere to necessary grant requirements for statistical tracking record keeping
  • Prepare and maintain monthly progress report
  • Conduct Victim Surveys for feedback and outcome

Key Responsibility Area: Program Follow-Up Management:

  • Coordinate grant funding complete all required documentation and reports necessary
  • Grant compliance and policies
  • Participate in appropriate staff orientations and trainings
  • Attend and participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Process
  • Complete appropriate and timely reports of activities submitted to the Family Violence Liaison as required including those associated with any grant or funding that supports the position. Complete appropriate client file updates as required.

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of crime victims rights knowledge of family violence laws penal code and the court system
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team member
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to maneuver several tasks at same time
  • Ability to present a positive professional image to victims staff and the public
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of social service programs and community resources
  • Problem solving trauma-informed care crisis intervention skills active listening skills and victim advocacy skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Education Levels Considered:
    • Masters Degree in Social Work or relevant field or relevant life work or volunteer experience.
    • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Social Work Criminal Justice Psychology Public Health or a related field.
  • Experience Levels Considered:
    • Law Enforcement work experience
    • Five years of direct client work (preference given to experience in residential crisis homeless or domestic violence)
    • Direct experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence.
    • Experience providing services and case management with people in crisis.

Experience and Background:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma informed crisis intervention domestic violence adult dating violence teen dating violence child abuse & neglect stalking elder abuse and generational family violence sexual assault stalking/harassment human trafficking the homeless or abuse.
  • Demonstrated commitment to engaging and servicing people who have been victimized by family violence adult dating violence teen dating violence child abuse & neglect stalking elder abuse and generational family violence sexual assault stalking/harassment human trafficking the homeless or abuse.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and respectful engagement with communities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with diverse community partners including law enforcement and community agencies.
  • Familiar with community service programs and case management techniques.
  • Experience establishing rapport trust and boundaries with complainants/victims.
  • Experience in working with varied ethnic groups and demonstrated cultural competence.
  • Effective oral & written communication skills; public speaking facilitating group discussions
  • Bilingual skills helpful
  • Valid Class C Texas Drivers License OR valid drivers license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Drivers License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
  • Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
