Overview:

This position is responsible for conducting the screening and certification testing of experimental cable designs. This work is conducted under the direction of the laboratory manager using industry standards and laboratory work procedures.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical electrical and flame testing of cable samples in support of industry certifications
  • Participate in external audits by demonstrating testing expertise and knowledge of the laboratory quality management system
  • Maintain laboratory equipment supplies and working area. Perform minor equipment repairs and calibrations.
  • Commission new test equipment with the support of laboratory management
  • Maintain records and issue reports on test results generated
  • Write and/or provide feedback on testing procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Able to follow all safety procedures and identify risks in day to day work
  • The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; organize work into logical process steps; use time effectively; and establish priorities
  • The ability to work as an individual or as a team
  • Demonstrates sound technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to consistently complete tasks on time; persists in the face of obstacles; results oriented
  • The ability to gather specific information to understand issues and use good problem solving techniques
  • Able to speak concisely and articulately; asks open-ended questions

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Associates Degree in chemical or mechanical discipline and/or relevant experience
