JOB SUMMARY:
Manages all functions of Costume Fabrication including daily operations production planning purchasing/procurement and fabrication build quality. Manages leadership team and hourly Fabrication staff to meet production schedules and maximize budget utilization across all projects at Costume Fabrication while ensuring Costume Designers vision and use intent of deliverables are met.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily Operations Management: Manage daily operations of Costume Fabrication including managing supervisory team in planning team member assignments schedules timecard approvals and annual evaluations. Responsible for maintaining team morale and development. Responsible for daily inter-departmental and extra-company correspondence to ensure proper communication and goal alignment. Ensure shop equipment and inventory levels are maintained for successful daily operations at Fabrication.
- Production Planning & Budgeting: Manage production plan and budgets including labor and non-labor for all Costume Fabrication projects including standard daily park costumes Special Events and Marquee Events. Responsible for ensuring design and IP intent is upheld when Fabrication is executing new projects and maintaining existing costumes while considering safety performance comfort and cost of deliverables. Ensure deliverable dates are met and the costumes are delivered in time for necessary fittings rehearsals and performances. Collect feedback from operational partners including costumers stage management show direction and performers to identify areas for improvement on costume alterations builds and procurement.
- Purchasing and Vendor Relations: Manage Costume Fabrication purchasing team. Assess and approve order requests and purchase orders generating purchase requisitions and approving Pcard purchases when needed. Guide purchasing team in finding new/lowest cost sources and vendors. Manage projects given to vendors and ensure they are meeting Universal quality expectations and delivery dates. Identify and onboard new vendors as needed.
- Fabrication Standards: Maintain a standard and consistent production cycle for costume fabrication including consistent patterning and fabrication standards. Ensure that costumes leaving fabrication have been quality checked prior to release. Evaluate cutting methods and procedures to maximize fabric usage. Oversee workspace utilization to ensure proper equipment and tools are being used effectively. Managing the overall organization of shop and work processes. Maintain and establish SOPs for Costume Fabrication areas and tasks.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree in Theater Film Costume/Apparel Design or similar field required.
- Masters degree in business management or similar preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 -7 years professional experience managing a Theatrical based costume shop or area is required
- Experience in show development preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
