WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
AsLeadTechnologist in IRL you will provide daily lead functions perform basic and advanced donor and patienttestsand interpret results todeterminedonor-recipient compatibility. Resolve compatibility problems; provide complex reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services. Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples. Adhere to explicit standard operating procedures and interpret test resultsin accordance withthe applicable regulatory requirements. Provide supportdevelopmentand/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
Consult and communicate with staff at other medical facilities to resolve serologic problems and provide special units to transfusion recipients.
Manage receipt coordination shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples to include ordering receiving inspecting and preparing reagents associated with donor product inventory. Maintenance ofthe exceptionaland rare donor products.
Perform and interpret independent basic and complex donor and/or patient testing procedures and complete required quality control asappropriate tostate and federal regulations. Recognize testing irregularitiesidentifythe causedeterminethe solution and resolve the problem orrefersit to theappropriate level.
May assume lead responsibilities tomaintaineditand review computer and manual records toassureaccuraterecord keeping. Maintainaccurate legible and complete records. Also perform maintenance repair and validation of laboratory equipment and software maintenance.
May perform internal staff training competency reviews and external customer education.
Standard Schedule:Monday - Friday Day Shift - 7A-3PM
Pay Information:DOE (Also includes on-call rotating weekends)
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelors degree in Biological Science or Chemistry. MT(ASCP)
Licensure if required bystate.
Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
MLT (ASCP) certification with 5 years of blood banking experience can be substituted.
Good written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.Mustbe able to work on a team.
WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE:
BB(ASCP) equivalent certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing stretchingstoopingand bending for extended time periods. Lift pullpushand move objects of up to 50 pounds. May work in walk-inrefrigerator/freezersfor periods of time. Required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats gloves face shields etc. Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment.
