What to Expect:
The Repair Technician Apprentice is responsible for learning how to install repair and operate elevator & escalator this role the Repair Technician Apprentice will service a variety of elevator systems under the supervision of a technician. The Repair Technician Apprentice will often visit several job sites each day help organize tools & equipment and engage with customers to learn more about the reported problem(s). This role often involves working with both mechanical & electrical systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Under supervision assists repair technicians in maintaining repairing & troubleshooting problems with elevators escalators & other vertical transportation.
- Assists in preventative maintenance & inspection of elevators escalators lifts and related components.
- Responds to call-back/trouble calls in a timely manner and restores equipment to a safe operating condition.
- Applies skills and knowledge learned in the apprenticeship program to learn & develop diagnostic troubleshooting ability; operates tools & equipment common to the elevator trade such as voltammeter amp probe meggars tachometer rotation meter soldering iron solid state logic probes lap top troubleshooting & numerous power and hand tools.
- Maintains machine rooms elevator pits and elevator car tops in a neat & clean condition.
- Assists in maintaining equipment inventory as needed.
- May be assigned to special task force during periods of emergency such as floods storms hurricanes etc.
