Job Summary

Requirements:

  • High school graduate/GED required. College degree in finance preferred.
  • Certified Patient Account Specialist Certification and/or Certified Healthcare Collector Certification preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years business office experience.
  • Previous experience in a business office within a hospital environment preferred or transferable skills from other fields
  • Previous experience in a business office within a substance abuse and/or psychiatric hospital preferred.
  • Must have an acceptable background check and credit report
  • A minimum of 2 years experience with 3rd party billing and collection experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with male and female adult (18-over) substance abuse/dually diagnosed population

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Completes insurance verification for patients accurately and within 20 minutes of notification
  • Accurately posts payments to patient accounts daily.
  • Completes adjustments accurately based on payments and information received
  • Processes all mail and related correspondence within 72 hours of receipt.
  • Maintains collection notes for assigned accounts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Performs timely follow up with insurance company and/or responsible party and continuing until account is resolved to a zero balance while properly documenting account.
  • Keeps Business Office Director informed of any problem areas i.e. trends in payment practices of insurance companies and private accounts.
  • All other duties as assigned
