Originally established in 1935 we are a dynamic multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy providing a wide range of services across many industry sectors including commercial education defence residential and more.
We develop long term relationships with clients adding value at every stage of development. We are one of a few medium-sized consultancies offering integrated design and technical expertise.
We have a nationwide presence with offices located across the UK. We plan to open further sites in the future to develop our national service.

The role
We are currently recruiting a Senior Associate Building Surveyor to join our Oxford office.
The role will involve leading and delivering a wide range of professional and project-based building surveying services to clients in the private and commercial sectors. You will be responsible for managing complex commissions supporting junior team members and contributing to the strategic growth of the department. Youll also drive business development manage team resources and contribute to the overall growth of the building surveying discipline.
The selected candidate will
- Act in a Lead Consultant capacity to deliver a range of projects. These projects will initially predominately be of a Building Surveying type but there will be opportunities to deliver other projects in due course. It is anticipated that the candidate will be able to work on their own with supervision provided by senior colleagues and support provided by junior members of the team or other members of IW in-house teams.
- Prepare specifications and documents to enable projects to be tendered and to gain accurate costs from contractors.
- Assist in preparation of any necessary building regulation or planning applications and monitor and deal with as necessary through discussions with the necessary authorities.
- Be able to manage their workload and deadlines including managing project programmes in conjunction with our clients.
- Manage the design and preparation of drawing process.
- Assess tenders and make recommendations to clients.
- Chair and minute all Project Meetings.
- Deliver all administration of the construction contract.
- Control expenditure and ensure that schemes are completed within budget/on time.
- Negotiate and settle final accounts with Contractors.
- Ensure all documentation is checked and meet the highest level of accuracy and quality.
Essential skills experience and attributes
- Degree in Building Surveying
- Chartered or a willingness to progress to RICS chartered status.
