We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service Peninsula Health Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health a newly merged health service with more than 22000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce providing new training education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026 all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About Us

Ngamai Wilam is anewly built 12-bed residential eating disorder treatment facility in Armadale opened in July 2025. Jointly funded by theAustralian Federal Governmentand theVictorian Government thisspecialist statewide servicewill be managed by Alfred Health.

Ngamai Wilam provides24/7 trauma-informed recovery-focused carefor adults aged 18 and over in agender-inclusive home-like therapeutic environment. With a strong emphasis onfamily and chosen supports our team is dedicated toperson-centred care that promotes long-term recovery.

About the Role

As aRegistered Mental Health Nurse you will:

  • Play avital rolein supporting individuals through their recovery journey in a residential setting.
  • Provideperson-centred trauma-informed and recovery-oriented carefor people experiencing eating disorders.
  • Conductcomprehensive risk and mental state assessmentsand develop care plans in collaboration with participants.
  • Deliverevidence-informed interventionstailored to the unique needs of individuals with eating disorders.
  • Work within theVictorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022)and other relevant legislation.
  • Engage effectively withparticipants families chosen supports and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Be part of asupportive team-focused environmentthat upholds dignity choice and self-determination.

About You

  • Registered Nurse (AHPRA)with theNursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in eating disorders.
  • Postgraduate qualifications inmental health nursingor currently working towards (desirable).
  • Experience providingtherapeutic care for individuals with eating disordersin hospital community or specialist settings (desirable).
  • Experience working inresidential settings(desirable).
  • Australian working rights.
  • Current Influenza vaccination.
  • Current Victorian DriverLicense Working with Children Check and Background Check.
