This position is for an Intern who will be entering their Sophomore Junior Senior or Post-Graduate year by the start of Summer 2026.

The Software organization develops software applications including integration and test on missiles launchers radars naval systems fire control and other complex systems. Our precision software and firmware integrate operating systems device drivers networking and control software to bring together sensors guidance and flight control processing features to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. This position is on-site in Fullerton CA.

What You Will Do:

• Assist and participate in the requirements design development and testing of application software and tools to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.
• Design code test integrate and document software solutions.
• Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
• Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
• Work on problems with defined scope schedule and expectations.
• Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in software development and command and control systems.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelors (or higher) degree program in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and will be at minimum Sophomore Junior Senior or Post Grad year by summer 2026.
• Experience with one or more of the following languages: C/C Java Python or TypeScript.

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Hands-on software engineering project experience in a team.
• Integrating AI capabilities into a software project.
• Interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
• 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and leaders in a team environment.

The salary range for this role is 42000 USD - 88000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.
