Job Summary

The Unified Assistant Coach for thewinter season interscholastic athletic program will be responsible for planning and direct supervision of daily team activities. This includes in-season as well as out-of-season contact which must be within MIAA and BHS policies. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and head coach of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-Season:

  • Attend coaches meetings (school)
  • Complete all necessary HR paperwork/training
  • Assist in monitoring registration and clearance
  • Check equipment inventory and make any requests to AD
  • Check uniform inventory Request transportation through Athletic Dept Read Athletic Handbook and ask AD for any clarification of policies etc.
  • Attend and support planning for meet the coaches night for families
  • Provide first week schedule to Assistant AD Review website for any changes

In Season:

  • Set up time with Equipment Manager to distribute uniforms/equipment
  • Confirm eligibility of students
  • Plan practice sessions accordingly communicate schedule at least 2 weeks in advance
  • Coordinate with Athletic Trainer for any athlete injuries and return to play
  • Ride bus to and from away contests - possibly drive school van
  • Communicate schedule and any announcements with families via weekly email update
  • Assist with any scheduling changes and communication of them to players/families Keep attendance daily
  • Communicate any issues with AD

Post-Season:

  • Set up time with Equipment Manager to collect uniforms in full
  • Have students complete Athletic Dept survey
  • Let Administrative Assistant know if any student did not return any uniform or equipment
  • Confirm final roster and wellness credit eligibility
  • Have end of season meeting with head coach
  • Have closeout meetings with each student
  • Make recommendations to AD on equipment needs for following year

Requirements Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of MIAA Rules and Policies
  • Concussion awareness training certification
  • CPR/AED certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Coaching experience or equivalent preferred
