Year 1 Teacher – Independent School – Birmingham

A prestigious independent school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate Year 1 Teacher to join its vibrant academically ambitious KS1 team from January 2026. The successful Year 1 Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across literacy numeracy and wider curriculum subjects ensuring all pupils reach their full potential.

As a Year 1 Teacher you will work closely with the Head of Year 1 and the wider KS1 team to plan engaging lessons that combine creativity with academic rigour. The Year 1 Teacher will be actively involved in assessment reporting and pastoral care supporting pupils social and emotional development alongside academic progress. Key Responsibilities for the Year 1 Teacher:

• Deliver high-quality engaging lessons across all Year 1 subjects.
• Plan assess and monitor pupil progress in line with school policies.
• Support classroom management and positive behaviour strategies.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
• Liaise with parents to provide feedback on pupils progress.

Person Specification:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching KS1 ideally as a Year 1 Teacher
• Excellent communication organisational and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about delivering high-quality teaching in an independent school
• Able to start in January 2026 in Birmingham
