Job Title: Groundskeeper / Grounds Maintenance Worker
Location: Tomball TX 77375
Duration: 3-6 Months (Extendable)
JOB INSIGHT:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance safety and functionality of campus grounds across one or multiple Lone Star College locations. This role involves landscaping grounds upkeep minor repairs and assisting with various campus operations. The position requires physical stamina knowledge of groundskeeping equipment and the ability to work independently or with contractors to support a clean and well-maintained environment for students staff and visitors.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain landscaping and grounds across assigned Lone Star College campus locations.
- Remove trash container bags inside court yards and throughout campus grounds daily.
- Maintain irrigation systems ponds and water features; diagnose and inspect sprinkler system timers valves wiring piping and heads.
- Provide direction and support to outside contractors performing grounds services.
- Assist with furniture moves office/classroom relocations and support electricians with elevated light repairs.
- Repair minor ground equipment and coordinate major equipment repairs with vendors.
- Maintain or repair structures such as greenhouses fences or benches.
- Care for interior plants in common areas by watering fertilizing and applying insecticides.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support campus operations.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
- Physically capable of performing heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and labor-intensive tasks related to grounds maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate powered equipment such as riding mowers brush hogs and tractors; determine appropriate equipment for each task.
- Helpful knowledge of groundskeeping tools and equipment.
Physical Abilities
- This position requires significant physical exertion including:
- Frequent climbing of tall ladders
- Lifting objects over 50 pounds
- Crouching crawling and working in restricted areas
