About the team

The College of Laws Arts and Social Sciences was established in January 2023 uniting the Schools of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences Media and Communication Law and Criminology and Indigenous Knowledges. This integration fosters cross-disciplinary expertise and promotes innovative multidisciplinary approaches to research and teaching.

Your new role

The Lecturer (Level B) role involves delivering lectures tutorials and other teaching activities supervising Honours and postgraduate students producing scholarly research and participating in professional activities. The position also includes administrative and service responsibilities within the College and across the University.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching and Supervision: Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate units; supervise Honours and research students; support curriculum development and student engagement.
  • Research and Engagement: Undertake independent ERA-reportable research; foster partnerships across industry community government media and the tertiary sector.
  • Service and Administration: Contribute to committees academic reviews and administrative tasks as directed by the Head of School.

This continuous full-time position (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $111026.00 $131518.00 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What youll bring to the role

  • PhD in literary studies creative writing or a related discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • Ability to teach across the English and Creative Writing major in areas such as Australian literature the novel the short story speculative fiction and queer literature
  • Proven experience in innovative teaching; proficiency in working with students using online learning platforms
  • Ability to supervise Honours and postgraduate students
  • Research potential aligned with School strengths
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective problem solving time management and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage academic administrative tasks.
