Job Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Basingstoke and Deane to assist with the appointment of a Grounds Maintenance Manager on a 6-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 37.00 - 47.94 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking a suitably qualified and professional Grounds Maintenance Manager to lead and support the councils grounds maintenance operations for an interim period of up to six months. The postholder will oversee the day-to-day management of a large grounds maintenance workforce ensuring that services are delivered efficiently safely and to a high standard across all council sites.
Working from the Wade Road depot the manager will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality public spaces supporting staff coordinating works and ensuring exceptional customer service. Regular site visits are an essential part of the role.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the grounds maintenance workforce ensuring effective deployment supervision and delivery of daily work programmes.
- Plan and monitor grounds maintenance schedules seasonal priorities and work allocations.
- Review performance productivity and standards taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation council policies and best-practice safety standards.
- Respond professionally to enquiries complaints and service requests from residents councillors and internal departments.
Requirements:
- Qualification in horticulture or a relevant discipline.
- Proven track record of managing a large grounds maintenance workforce in a local authority facilities landscaping or environmental services environment.
- Strong customer-focused approach with the ability to build trust and positive relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptable and quick to learn new systems processes and operational requirements.
- Motivated to make a meaningful impact even within a short-term contract.
- Full driving licence.
