Hospital Pharmacist Acute Care (13-Week Contract)

Overview
A respected regional healthcare system is seeking a Hospital Pharmacist to support acute-care pharmacy operations within a community hospital setting. This role provides essential clinical and dispensing services to ensure safe effective medication use across inpatient units. The pharmacist will collaborate closely with physicians nurses and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care. This is a contract assignment ideal for pharmacists with recent hospital experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify prepare and dispense medications for inpatient units in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards
  • Conduct medication profile reviews and assess therapy for accuracy appropriateness and safety
  • Provide pharmacokinetic consultations and dosing adjustments as needed
  • Support transitions of care through medication reconciliation and patient counseling
  • Respond to clinical inquiries from providers and nursing staff
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies formulary guidelines and medication-use protocols
  • Participate in antimicrobial stewardship therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical rounds
  • Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with USP regulations
  • Review and clarify medication orders to prevent errors or adverse events
  • Support automated dispensing cabinet workflows and inventory management
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record
  • Assist with emergency code responses and stat medication preparation


Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license (state license for the region required)
  • Recent experience in an acute-care or community hospital pharmacy
  • Strong knowledge of inpatient pharmacotherapy and clinical protocols
  • Experience with EPIC or similar EHR systems preferred
  • Sterile compounding competency (USP 797/800) preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment


Work Environment & Schedule
13-week contract; full-time schedule (approximately 40 hours per week) within a community hospital setting in the greater northeastern Maryland region. Specific shift details may vary.
