Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring an Engineer in Training to join our dynamic H&H team at our Houston TX office.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform engineering functions specific to the water resources discipline.
  • Prepare planning documents engineering reports plans specifications and estimates for projects.
  • Develop and apply hydrologic and hydraulic models including HEC-RAS HEC-HMS and SWMM for stormwater management flood risk assessment and watershed planning.
  • Perform hydrologic analyses using Rational Method NRCS and regression techniques to estimate inflows.
  • Conduct 1-D and 2-D hydraulic modeling to evaluate water surface elevations assess bridge replacements and determine infrastructure impacts.
  • Support drainage impact studies for roadway bridge and stream restoration projects ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Analyze and design hydraulic structures culverts detention basins and erosion control measures.
  • Conduct scour analysis for bridge foundations using industry-standard methods (HEC-18).
  • Perform GIS-based spatial analysis and mapping related to hydrology and hydraulics using ArcGIS and QGIS.
  • Assist in technical report writing including documentation of model development findings and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams regulatory agencies and project stakeholders to support infrastructure projects.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Environmental and Water Resources Engineering or a related engineering field of study.
  • Knowledge or experience in the following must have been gained through academic research and/or coursework: hydraulic modeling; ArcGIS analysis; civil engineering particularly with water specialty; reading analyzing and interpreting scientific and technical documents and applying statistical concepts such as exponents logarithms and quadratic equations.
