DescriptionThe Admissions Counselor serves as a liaison between the university and the community at large. To serve in this capacity entails visiting with high school guidance counselors students and their parents and other education officials without supervision at private visits in high schools college fairs and at other special functions throughout Tennessee Georgia and Alabama.
Responsibilities- Represents UTC at day and evening programs high school visits scholarship programs etc. primarily in Tennessee and surrounding states
- Interacts with prospective students who visit or call the Admissions office including high school students transfer students foreign students parents and adult students
- Follows up with initial contacts made via mail email telephone and private visits
- Participates in specialized programs such as freshman/transfer orientation and phone calling campaigns
- Conducts daily tour presentations to visitors explaining college opportunities available to students enrolled at UTC
- Plans and coordinates recruitment events for prospective students in specified areas such as overnight trips to campus
- Occasional weekend and late evening events for campus programs that fall outside of the normal 8 a.m.-5 p.m. workday
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to handle multiple and ongoing projects
- Ability to lift and load boxes
- Knowledge of admissions policies and academic programs
The review of applications will begin July 1 2025 and will continue until the position is filled.
QualificationsMinimum: Requires a bachelors degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience in enrollment services recruitment or admissions either as an RA SGA while in school or professionally; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. A valid drivers license is required.
Preferred: Two to three years of experience in a college admissions office or comparable collegiate/business experience with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga or higher education in Tennessee is preferred.
