Job Summary

Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater Oklahoma is seeking applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the field of Power and Energy Systems with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). This position offers the opportunity to work on an NSF-funded project in collaboration with a broad network of academic and industry partners. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research at the intersection of power systems control optimization and data-driven intelligence.

Required Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. (Candidates who have successfully defended their Ph.D. dissertation and are awaiting formal degree conferral are also eligible to apply.)
  2. Strong background in power and energy systems
  3. Hands-on experience in control optimization and AI/ML applications
  4. Demonstrated record of high-quality publications
  5. Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.

About the Principal Investigators

Assistant Professor Hamid Nazaripouya from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering leads multiple multidisciplinary research efforts focused on addressing critical challenges in power systems renewable energy integration and community resilience. His work has been supported by leading agencies including NASA NSF DOE and USDA underscoring the broad impact and importance of his research. Dr. Nazaripouyas expertise lies in power grid modernization with emphasis on enhancing sustainability and resilience through the integration of distributed energy resources power electronics artificial intelligence optimization methods and smart grid technologies.

Assistant Professor Ardeshir Moftakhari from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering brings complementary expertise in energy systems design and analysis. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Architectural and Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on grid-interactive district energy systems optimal design of thermal and power systems and building energy efficiency. Dr. Moftakhari is also an active member of ASHRAE contributing to technical committees that advance building energy and environmental performance.
