Job Summary
Lead APAC compressor engineering for scroll and rotary compressors including advanced development and mass production introduction. Drive technology roadmap innovation and cost leadership while ensuring compliance with safety quality and sustainability standards. Oversee teams in Japan and China ensuring timely delivery of competitive high-performance compressor solutions.
- Work within the compressor engineering team in China and Japan.
- Budget and manage the funding and resources to support the identified Compressor projects.
- Lead development project following internal development process and make decision at set gate.
- Ensure development project is on track and adjust schedules as required.
- Understand technical requirements of HVAC application which uses compressor and work with product engineers to fine-tune them.
- Identify weaknesses in prototypes and make the necessary changes.
- Collect technology trend information and manage technology roadmap.
- Bridge the transition from Advanced development to compressor product development provide transition support to the engineering and manufacturing teams through mass production launch.
- Support to generate significant IP in both design and application of new compressor products as well as novel manufacturing processes.
- Commit to the elimination of unsafe conditions using appropriate personal protect equipment and complying with pre-established rules (Environmental Occupational Health and Safety and Quality) being aware of internal policies and procedures.
Qualifications :
- 15 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of compressors with the priority being in High-side scroll compressor design and manufacturing. Working knowledge of gas dynamics journal bearings sound measurement and control involute geometry dynamic compliance lubrication and test methods.
- 10 years of direction experience leading the research development and mass production introduction of innovative compressors in Engineer Manager role. These include analytical studies prototype development and evaluation developing cost and performance metrics compared to competitive products developing detailed business plans and value selling innovative ideas to management.
- Demonstrated ability to invent especially in the compressor field. Desirable to have >20 patents and experience with writing and reading patent claims.
- Extensive experience in analyzing data and reaching conclusions based on both analytical and empirical information.
- Ability to influence across a matrix organization without the benefit of direct reporting relationships. Candidate must be well-organized and capable of managing numerous competing priorities. Excellent people skills with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across a matrix multi-cultural organization.
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
- Strong capability with computers design and analysis software and standard MS Office tools.
- Better to also have significant experience in low side scroll compressor and rotary compressors.
