Clinical Inpatient Pharmacist Acute Care Hospital (Contract California Region)
Overview
A large acute care hospital within a respected regional health system is seeking a Clinical Inpatient Pharmacist for an 8-week contract assignment. The pharmacist will support inpatient clinical and operational pharmacy functions including medication verification dispensing and therapeutic monitoring. This role is ideal for pharmacists with recent hospital experience who thrive in fast-paced multidisciplinary environments. Competitive weekly compensation is offered.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify medication orders for accuracy safety and clinical appropriateness
- Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with state federal and institutional standards
- Provide pharmacotherapy support including therapeutic drug monitoring and dose adjustments
- Review medication regimens for interactions contraindications and optimization opportunities
- Participate in interdisciplinary communication to support evidence-based medication management
- Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding as needed
- Document clinical interventions and operational activities in the electronic health record
- Assist with medication reconciliation and support transitions of care
- Respond to medication-related inquiries from healthcare providers
- Support inventory management and controlled substance oversight
- Contribute to quality safety and performance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active pharmacist license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain)
- Recent inpatient or acute care hospital pharmacy experience required
- Strong clinical judgment and familiarity with hospital medication-use processes
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a large healthcare system
- Up-to-date resume and professional references
- Experience with sterile compounding preferred
Work Environment & Schedule
