The faculty in the Department of Bioengineering are engaged in integrative research and education across the continuum from fundamental discovery to clinical translation. Bioengineering plays a prominent role in the strategic vision of The School of Engineering and Applied Science Penn Engineering 2030 ( We are seeking to recruit outstanding faculty who will further enhance our integrative research and educational programs. Broad thematic areas for growth include: (1) Precision Engineering for Health (2) Intelligent and Autonomous Systems for Engineered Life and (3) Engineering and AI Models Driving Digital Health. While these themes already encompass a wide range of subdisciplines technologies and applications in bioengineering we also welcome applications from exceptional candidates in any emerging field of bioengineering whose vision complements and expands the Departments interests and strengths.
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Bioengineering/ Biomedical Engineering or a related field. At the assistant professor level individuals should demonstrate stellar academic credentials and promise for a visionary career in bioengineering research. At higher professorial levels a proven and evident track record of research excellence including successful competitive research funding and academic standing is expected.
A commitment to teaching and pedagogical excellence should also be apparent consistent with experience and rank including development of undergraduate and graduate courses supervision of doctoral students and academic and professional mentoring and advising of students at all levels.
