Job Summary
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Pediatric Emergency Department (ED)
Location: Edison NJ 08818 (ZIP 08818)
Hours per Week: 36
Hours per Day: 8
Days per Week: 5
Shift: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Weekends: Every other weekend required
Holidays: As needed
On-Call: None
Job Summary
The Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality compassionate care to pediatric patients during critical moments when urgent medical attention is required. This role requires strong clinical judgment rapid assessment skills and the ability to respond decisively in high-pressure trauma and emergency scenarios. RNs in this department will assess prioritize and manage care for pediatric patients presenting with varied physical and mental health conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional emergency nursing care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced high-acuity environment.
Respond quickly and effectively to trauma cases and emergent medical situations.
Assess incoming patients accurately and prioritize treatment based on severity and clinical need.
Utilize clinical expertise to develop and implement effective nursing care plans.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients families and interdisciplinary team members.
Float within the emergency department as needed (Adult ED Pediatric ED Intermediate Care).
Support departmental operations to meet high patient volumes (up to 80 patients per day).
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 18 months of RN experience in a pediatric Emergency Department.
ED experience within the past six months.
Demonstrated clinical competency and proven professional nursing performance.
Strong analytical abilities and clinical knowledge to create effective care plans.
Ability to perform a broad range of professional nursing duties.
Strong communication skills with patients families and healthcare staff.
Education Requirements
Required: ASN
Preferred: BSN
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
Active NJ Registered Nurse License or multi-state compact license
BLS American Heart Association
ACLS American Heart Association
PALS American Heart Association
NIHSS Certification
Preferred:
NRP American Heart Association
ENPC
