The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation which provides age related residential educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.

Respite Service Summary:

The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region provides high-quality person-centred supports to children with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Our Chiildrens Respite Services are based in Ballinhassig Co. Cork offering planned day and overnight breaks for children aged 8 - 18 years.

Due to expansion of our day respite service we will be operating 7 days a week as well as providing our existing overnight breaks. Respite is available throughout the year including school holidays and focuses on creating a safe supportive and homely environment where children can enjoy meaningful experiences away from home while families receive essential respite.

Our approach is grounded in person-centred planning enabling children to participate in activities that reflect their interests and goals while supporting their independence communication and personal care needs. Staff work collaboratively with families schools and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and positive outcomes for every child.

  1. Professional Qualifications and Experience etc.
    1. Eligible applicants will be those who are on the closing date for the competition:
      1. Must have a minimum relevant Level 5 (formerly FETAC) Major Award qualification on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework (8 modules in total) preferably in Healthcare Support / Health Service Skills (desirable a module in Intellectual Disability) / Childcare OR SNA qualification OR be undertaking a relevant Social Care / Nursing or Allied Health Qualification Level 7/ Level 8
      2. It is desirable for candidates to have at least 6 months experience of working in the intellectual disability sector with Adults/children.
      3. A full clean Drivers licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is essential as it is a requirement of this role to drive service vehicles
      4. Completion of module on Special Needs and/or Intellectual Disability as part of qualification is desirable
  2. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

3. Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Salary Scale: 34036 - 45454 including 1 LSI per annum (1/8/25 Department of Health Consolidated Scales). Part-Time hours will be paid pro-rata to a full-time post
