Part-time Job Announcement

Position: Cosmetology Laboratory Assistant

Location: Athens Campus

Department: Division of Business Industry and Technology

Reports to: Program Chair for Cosmetology and Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists faculty members with classroom instruction exams record keeping adherence to safety procedures tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction.
  • Assists faculty with the supervision and mentoring of students during scheduled lab sessions or tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Assists faculty with maintaining a clean and safe lab environment.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment as instructed.
  • Assists with inventory maintenance and requisition of supplies.
  • Obtains materials needed for classes including texts and other materials.
  • Completes ALL required employee trainings.
  • Meets with students staff members supervisors as needed.
  • Assists with special projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by program chair.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Cosmetology or a related field.
  • A valid Georgia Master Cosmetologist License.
  • Experience in all areas of Cosmetology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to assist day and evening classes.
  • Five (5) years experience in the cosmetology industry.
  • Knowledge of the TCSG cosmetology program.
  • Experience with a diverse clientele and services including: shaving barber cutting techniques wet hairstyling color permanent waving relaxers smoothing treatments and/or skin care.
  • Knowledge of NIC licensure exams.
