Job Summary

The US Livestock Dairy and Poultry (LPD) R&D PCR group is looking for a Scientist to join our this role you will perform testing to verify that PCR products are being developed in compliance with product requirements and regulatory guidelines. You will also help to facilitate field testing of PCR reagents at customer and laboratory sites in the US and Europe. A competitive candidate will be a detail-oriented highly motivated individual with a strong background in molecular biology and a willingness to work as part of close knit team.

What can you expect

  • Performs laboratory work including sample preparation nucleic acid extraction PCR analysis instrument validation stability testing and investigative or troubleshooting experiments to support reagent development.

  • Operates instruments and uses software programs for collection analysis and summarization of PCR results

  • Documents experimental details in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Compiles information for validation data reports and regulatory submissions.

  • Collaborates with colleagues and customers to support field validation studies in 3d party laboratories.

  • Potentially travels to other laboratory sites for sample preparation and analysis or field testing.

  • Presents experimental findings to colleagues in data reviews and other forums.

  • Maintains equipment materials and work areas along with the rest of the team.

  • Collaborates and communicates with colleagues in the R&D group to provide work support exchange information and ensure efficient processes.

What do you need to succeed

  • Bachelors degree in the biological sciences with 5-7 years of experience or Masters degree with 0-3 years of experience.

  • Experience with molecular biology is preferred.

  • Laboratory bench and instrumentation skills.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and interpret results.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel Word Outlook PowerPoint) and JMP software

  • Excellent verbal technical writing interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to maintain accurate and clear documentation.

  • Organizational skills attention to detail and ability to plan work.

  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
