Job Summary:

Join the UW-Madison Libraries finance team and support the people who lead in curating preserving and sharing knowledge to advance the mission and strategic priorities of our world-class research university. The Associate Director for Finance of the UW-Madison Libraries leads a team of financial specialists to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the division and plays a critical role in creating and maintaining an annual budget of approximately $35 million. We are looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who sees opportunities in dynamic environment and works with the team to navigate change as we work through information system upgrades and campus improvements.

Key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Business Administration and leadership to build the annual budget create forecasts and monitor costs throughout the year.
  • Sign off and audit financial transactions ensuring that they are processed according to university policy.
  • Creates timely and accurate reporting to the Executive Council and others.
  • Provides leadership in developing policy and procedures as we adjust to the Workday environment.
  • Supervises a team of financial specialists. Trains evaluates and coaches employees in their professional development.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on business functions to Libraries units. Provides training or updates as requested by leadership.
  • Assists employees in pre- and post-award functions for grants.
  • Engages in professional development.

This position is eligible for partial remote work. A remote work agreement may allow for a maximum of 20% remote per week.

This position is full-time 100%.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans schedules and directs financial operations budgets allocations and compensation plans for a specific fiscal work unit.
  • Implements the unit personnel resource allocation plan including hiring training supervision and resolution of personnel issues.
  • Recommends interprets disseminates and implements unit-focused fiscal policies and procedures ensuring compliance with established rules regulations and financial guidelines.
  • Participates in the development maintenance and monitoring of automated financial information systems and accounts and ledgers for multiple functional areas.
  • Directs the solicitation review and awarding of funds from grant programs and integrated research projects occasionally.
  • Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

Compensation:

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well-qualified applicants can anticipate earning between $95000 - $125000 with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
