Job Description
The Governors Legislative Office is hiring for a Legislative Staff Assistant for the upcoming 2026 Legislative Session.
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our office in the
State Capitol Building in Juneau.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Providing a high level of clerical support which requires sound judgment professionalism and confidence. Due to the high-profile nature of our office this position is required to work within tight deadlines and the incumbent must have the ability to perform multiple job duties with continual interruptions without sacrificing the quality of the work product.
Primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Greeting and engaging with incoming guests
- Receiving and directing incoming callers
- Taking and relaying messages
- Scheduling meetings
- Maintaining calendars for the Director and staff
- Data entry
- Maintaining and organizing electronic and paper records
- Composing and editing correspondence
- Assisting staff in conducting research
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure; work well with others; be willing to occasionally work overtime; and possess a strong work ethic which includes punctuality dependability andprofessionalism.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent certificate and two (2) years of administrative support experience.
Substitution: Relevant postsecondary education and/or customer service experience may be substituted for the required administrative support experience on a year-for-year basis.
