JOB PURPOSE

Works in the aerospace industry applying coating to turbine engine components to provide erosion and corrosion protection. The Shop Technician will primarily prepare parts to receive coating.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

Abrade metal surfaces to remove light scale and impart a surface finish sufficient for parts to receive coating
Mask specified areas of parts to protect from abrading prior to coating.
Examine blasted parts to ensure conformance to process requirements
Service and maintain machinery in accordance with company and manufacturers procedures.
Follow instructions per traveler
Load and unload the ovens.
Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment.
Maintain records and logs as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking bending and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting lifting carrying pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated: Basic Computer Skills

Education/Training: High School Diploma

Experience: Plasma spray experience is a plus but not required

Other: Other duties may be assigned in role to support other departments personnel or projects.
