This role supports a large-scale State Tax Modernization Program focused on upgrading and replacing legacy systems that handle critical tax and revenue operations. The modernization effort includes projects across key areas such as:
The selected candidate will play a lead role in designing and developing modern efficient and reliable Java-based systems that support essential statewide tax operations.
Position Summary
The Java Architect will oversee all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for complex enterprise-level projects including both new development and ongoing maintenance. This position requires an expert-level professional capable of guiding technical design mentoring team members and ensuring high-quality system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical design and architecture for modernization of legacy systems.
Coordinate technical solutions across development and infrastructure teams.
Implement enhancements and real-time system changes as requested by user groups.
Design develop and maintain complex Java-based tax processing applications.
Support production environments troubleshoot issues and implement defect resolutions.
Prepare technical design documentation and program specifications.
Guide requirements gathering and system analysis sessions.
Conduct coding unit testing and integration testing activities.
Write and optimize SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
Support user acceptance testing and performance tuning of applications.
Mentor junior and mid-level developers on technical best practices.
Mandatory Qualification
Desired Qualifications
Candidates will be evaluated based on their experience in the following areas:
J2EE Technologies: 7 years of experience using JDBC JSP and XML.
Java EE Development: 7 years of experience building and testing Java EE applications using IDEs such as Eclipse NetBeans or IntelliJ.
Frameworks and Application Servers: 7 years of experience with Spring or Struts and application servers such as Tomcat JBoss WebSphere or WebLogic.
SQL and Database Development: 7 years of experience writing SQL for relational databases.
System Analysis and Design: 7 years of experience designing multi-tiered transactional systems.
Performance Tuning: 5 years of experience optimizing applications interacting with databases.
Messaging Technologies: 5 years of experience with MQ JMS or Kafka.
