Job Summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an air conditioning (AC) vocational or journeymen training program.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in the Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC) trade.
  • Valid Florida drivers license.
  • Proven experience successfully managing business/department functions preferred.
  • Industry certification preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Public Records Sunshine Law FERPA and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy public information and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment materials practices computers and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends and be on call for emergencies 24 hours per day to provide coverage during the absence of the immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to assist and coordinate personnel in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out work estimate costs and requisition materials for assigned projects.
  • Perform all of the duties of the Chillwater HVAC Technician as necessary.
  • Assist with the review of work orders/job requests and determine daily weekly and monthly priorities.
  • Interact with staff at building sites to gather and relay/update information needed to resolve air conditioning issues.
  • Assist in the instruction of personnel on performance of specific tasks when required.
  • Utilize basic District computer applications for communication training and record keeping.
  • Inform supervisor of problem areas or problems in work completion.
  • Keep school personnel informed of progress on work orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of HVAC maintenance schedules for routine upkeep of equipment and facilities.
  • Investigate gather information and meet with co-workers/school personnel to assist in problem resolution.
  • Assist in the hiring and training of new personnel.
  • Work effectively under the stress of time personnel shortages and multiple requests.
  • Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment and/or facilities to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Perform basic duties of other trades to complete necessary tasks.
  • Provide input in the planning of new school facilities.
