Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Warden responsible for developing and Implementing policies and operating procedures and supervising the execution thereof to maintain security and to ensure safety for Inmates and employees.
The incumbent plans coordinates directs and manages administrative and/or operational functions of the institution as directed by the Warden.
Ensures that the institutions programmatic missions are accomplished in an effective and efficient manner.
On call 24/7

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year-for-year basis.

SCDCMinimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

Ten (10) years of experience in correctional security military or police work including five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for up to 1/2 of required supervisory experience (associate 2 years bachelors and above 2 1/2 years).
Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
