Lactation Program Coordinator (RN)
The Lactation Program Coord RN promotes a breastfeeding-friendly environment providing family-centered patient care by assessing planning implementing and evaluating lactation plans and support for families engaged with maternal and child health initiatives within Lurie Childrens Hospital. This position provides support to ensure success of the Lurie Childrens annual goals and organizational mission.Participates as an essential member of the healthcare team providing clinical lactation therapy for patients. Serves as a clinical resource person for physicians nurses and other healthcare providers in order to promote optimal patient care and assist in the marketing of lactation services to professional and non-professional consumers. Provides guidance and support to healthcare providers new parents and families in the promotion of breastfeeding as well as the implementation of breastfeeding-friendly practices.

Min Quals:
Hold and maintain current International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Certification
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois required
2 years clinical experience in human lactation or breastfeeding required
Knowledge of current breastfeeding research and evidence-based practice required
Bachelors degree preferred
Excellent teaching communication and counseling skills
Excellent organizational time management and problem-solving skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Job Duties:
Responsible for providing support for the parent/mother-infant breastfeeding dyad this includes conducting assessments planning interventions documentation and evaluation of these supports.
Coordinate day-to-day programming needs related to logistics and materials needed for lactation support.
Plan lactation curriculum for parents/mothers and parent/mother-infant breastfeeding dyads and families.
Facilitate collection tracking and reporting of data to demonstrate impact for internal reporting grant applications stewardship reports and other regulatory related requests.
Evaluates breastfeeding educational materials and products on an ongoing basis
Develop educational trainings/in-services for Certified Breastfeeding Counselors and new and existing staff
Keeps updated on current issues and best practices standards in breastfeeding and human lactation by attending workshops and reading pertinent periodicals journals and books
Assist in development of policies procedures and standards consistent with current trends/literature.
Coordinates lactation management with NICU Nursing Director
