The Registered Nurse - Cardiac Prep and Recovery plays a vital role in the continuum of cardiac care ensuring patients are safely and effectively prepared for cardiac procedures and supported through their immediate recovery. They are responsible for the delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked. They are expected to coordination of all aspects of the medical plan and nursing standards of care using the nursing process. The Registered Nurse - Cardiac Prep and Recovery also directs and guides the activities of other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. They must be able to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures. This role works closely with cardiologists anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient-centered care in pre-operative and post-operative settings.
Ensure proper pre-op preparation including IV placement assessment education lab work and consent verification.
Monitor patients in the recovery phase for complications cardiac stability pain management post-anesthesia care & discharge.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital protocols and safety standards.
Education
Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke Orthopedic/Spine)
Advanced nursing education (e.g. Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN Advanced Practice Nurse APRN) preferred
Licensure/Certification
Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
BLS
ACLS
Any specialty nursing certification (ie. PCCN CCRN etc.) preferred
Experience
At least one year of Progressive Care nursing with cardiac experience.
Critical Care and/or Emergency Room nursing preferred
